Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring Epic charting proficiency and a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.

Details

• 13-week contract at a hospital-based Medical Surgical unit
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
• Patient population includes sepsis, CIWA, AMS/confusion, COPD, post-op care, AKI, trauma, respiratory failure, bowel obstruction, pyelonephritis, cardiac conditions, diabetes, GI conditions, isolation precautions, and SI with medical indications
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Epic EMR is required
• Weekend and holiday coverage required
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible

Requirements

• Active Idaho (ID) or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency with IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access and management, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral and PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions/PPE, and medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Applies the nursing process across patient age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Responsible for thorough documentation in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards
• Must be adaptable to a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with evolving patient safety protocols
• Orientation modules are completed onsite and average 4–6 hours for RNs
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved; no RTO during the first week of orientation
• Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
