Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Level 3 NICU facility in Rapid City, SD, requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and an SD or compact RN license.
Details
- Hospital-based Labor & Delivery unit with 10 L&D beds, 4 OB ED/triage beds, and 4 antepartum rooms
- The facility houses the only Level 3 NICU within a 350-mile radius and accepts patients with a wide range of risk factors and complications
- Patient population includes high-risk antepartum, OB triage/ED, active and inactive labor, postpartum, and newborn (Level I and Level II nursery) patients
- Patient ratios: antepartum 1:3, inactive labor 1:2, active labor 1:1, and postpartum/couplet care 1:3
- 12-hour variable shifts with start times of 0630 or 1830; must be available to work both days and nights throughout the contract
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- Floating to postpartum/couplet care is required throughout the contract
- May be placed on low census call
- Charting system: Epic
Requirements
- Active RN license — SD Board of Nursing license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, inpatient obstetrics, electronic fetal monitoring, or inpatient antepartum
- Minimum 2 years of L&D experience, preferably in a Level 3 or higher L&D unit (affiliated with a Level 3 or higher NICU)
- Experience managing high-acuity labor patients including preeclampsia, preterm labor/delivery, and antepartum patients under 35 weeks gestation
- Proficiency in IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate administration, blood administration, insulin administration, circulating C-sections, and C-section recovery care
- Must be comfortable caring for couplets and normal newborn nursery patients (Level I care)
- Epic EMR experience required (manager approval needed if lacking)
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program
- 2 professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
- DOB and SSN required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Unit support includes a unit secretary, scrub tech, charge nurse, VAT team, respiratory therapy (24/7), OB physician team, and anesthesia/CRNA
- Orientation includes NEO training plus 4 days with a preceptor (3 days in L&D, 1 day in postpartum)
- Candidates comfortable with Level II nursery (lower acuity NICU) care are highly preferred
- May be expected to precept students during the assignment
- Scrubs are cobalt blue and are provided by the facility
