Description
The Travelers Indemnity Company has an opening for a Senior Data Engineer in Hartford, CT. This position is hybrid; may work from home up to 2 days per week, as permitted.
Build and operationalize complex data solutions, correct problems, apply transformations, and recommending data cleansing/quality solutions. Design complex data solutions, including incorporating new data sources and ensuring designs are consistent across projects and aligned to data strategies. Perform analysis of complex sources to determine value and use and recommend data to include in analytical processes. Incorporate core data management competencies including data governance, data security and data quality. Act as a data and technology subject matter expert within lines of business to support delivery and educate end users on data products/analytic environment. Perform data and system analysis, assessment and resolution for defects and incidents of high complexity and correct as appropriate. Collaborate across team to support delivery and educate end users on complex data products/analytic environment. This position is hybrid; may work from home up to 2 days per week as permitted. This position supervises an Associate Data Engineer and a Summer Intern.
Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field and at least 6 years of progressive experience as an Engineer working with data. Must also possess the following: at least 4 years of experience with the following tools, techniques, and manipulation tools including Cloud platforms: SQL, ETL tools, Web Services, and Batch Jobs; at least 4 years of experience with any of the following programming languages: Java, Python, JSP, HBase, and/or MongoDB; at least 4 years of experience in data warehouse design and development including Technical Architecture design for Data warehousing projects; at least 4 years of experience in Data Mart, Cubes, Reporting, Data Modeling, and data visualization; at least 4 years of experience in Teradata, DB2, Oracle and architecture of databases; at least 4 years of experience with any of the following modern software engineering practices: Cloud/Big Data, Dashboarding, Analytics, Data Parsing, Data Analysis, Business Requirements, Data Engineering techniques; and at least 1 year of experience in insurance domain with insurance business processes.
