Assistant General Counsel – Healthcare Regulatory

Dartmouth Health is seeking an experienced healthcare attorney to serve as an Assistant General Counsel for the system in the area of Healthcare Regulatory matters. This is an exciting opportunity for a healthcare lawyer who has enjoyed previous in-house experience in the hospital or health system environment and wishes to grow in a large, academic setting.
About the job:
Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel of Dartmouth Health, the role researches, develops, and collaborates with other attorneys and stakeholders regarding regulatory analyses for the system. This position will perform research and offer advice and counsel regarding a multitude of subjects, including patient care matters, HIPAA, EMTALA, medical staff matters, compliance, licensure and accreditation, ACGME programs, etc. This position will draft various contracts, as well as support the drafting of necessary policies and procedures. The Assistant General Counsel for Healthcare Regulatory is vital to protecting the institutional interests of Dartmouth Health.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Significant experience researching, analyzing, and providing advice regarding healthcare regulatory matters
- Significant experience drafting and analyzing various contracts for a hospital or health system
- Detail orientation and the ability to work independently on multiple projects
- Collaborative and customer service orientation, able to work collegially with a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to appropriately educate various stakeholders on applicable laws, regulations, and policies
This is a fully remote role with the expectation that all Office of General Counsel team members will come onsite to Lebanon, NH twice per year.

Minimum qualifications:
Qualified candidates must hold a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and have prior experience as a health care attorney. Active licensure with a State Bar, as well as the ability to obtain licensure in the New Hampshire Stare Bar within one year of hire. Three to five years of experience is required along with strong legal writing and communication skills. In-house counsel experience within healthcare is preferred.
