Responsibilities
Mythics is seeking a Lead AI/ML Developer & Edge Systems Architect will design, develop, and operationalize advanced AI/ML models, agents, and decision-support workflows for Army commanders operating across distributed echelons. The developer will lead parameterization of designated edge systems, build and maintain an edge emulation environment on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and ensure continuous inference capability for real-time operational decision-making in contested, resource-constrained environments. This position is a hands-on technical leadership role working with Army government personnel and industry partners to integrate multicloud AI platforms—including Oracle Cloud and AWS DMX/Model Garden—into an operationally viable architecture.
Key Responsibilities
AI/ML Architecture & Model Development
Architect, develop, and deploy AI/ML models, agents, and decision workflows across Army echelons with variable bandwidth, data volume, and compute resources.
Build models engineered for automatic optimization for cloud or edge deployment, with reduced size/weight/power (SWaP) configurations.
Develop algorithms that perform real-time inference on sparse, degraded, or intermittent edge tactical data.
Implement MLOps pipelines enabling rapid model retraining, packaging, and deployment to heterogeneous cloud and edge environments.
Edge System Parameterization & Emulation
Lead the parameterization of designated edge systems (TBD) to characterize compute, storage, SWaP, networking, and mission constraints.
Design, stand up, and maintain a full edge-system emulation environment on OCI, enabling model testing, profiling, and automated deployment optimization.
Define performance benchmarks and evaluate model behavior under contested and low-bandwidth edge conditions.
Multicloud Integration (OCI + AWS + Army Infrastructure)
Implement hosting and integration of the AWS DMX/Model Garden application within the approved multicloud architecture.
Develop and manage a structured Oracle Database containing edge system parameters for external system query and model tuning.
Support secure data ingest, cross-cloud orchestration, and API-based interoperability across Oracle Cloud, AWS, and Army systems.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration
Convene and lead the Parameterization & Edge System Emulation Working Group, including government and industry members.
Coordinate with industry partners to ensure alignment with mission objectives, technical baselines, and security requirements.
Provide technical mentorship to AI/ML developers, data engineers, and system integrators supporting the program.
Qualifications
Must possess a Public Trust Level 3
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience
12+ years work experience.
8+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML model development, distributed systems, or edge computing.
Strong expertise in Python, deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow), and MLOps tooling.
Experience building and deploying models in multicloud environments (OCI, AWS, Google)
Deep knowledge of edge compute architectures, SWaP-constrained systems, and model compression/optimization techniques (quantization, pruning, distillation).
Familiarity with tactical edge data patterns, ISR sensor ingest, and real-time decision models.
Experience designing or running emulation/simulation environments for edge or embedded systems.
Ability to work with government stakeholders in a highly collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with DoD programs, C5ISR, or tactical edge AI systems.
Knowledge of Kubernetes, containerization, and cross-cloud orchestration.
Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle Autonomous Database, and AWS AI tools such as DMX and Model Garden.
Understanding of multicloud security architectures, cross-domain workflows, and enclave boundary constraints.
