JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the CEO, the Fundraising Director develops and leads fundraising strategies, formulates solicitation procedures, and oversees all fundraising activities. Cultivates and maintains positive relationships with current and potential donors. Identifies new donor bases, directs and coordinates solicitation of funds. Leads grant-writing efforts. Duties include but are not limited to developing corporate giving opportunities, managing and increasing individual giving, writing grants, assisting with the organization’s annual report, coordinating fundraising events, and working with the management team and Board of Directors to create annual giving and service plans. This individual has an immediate impact on the organization’s fundraising and development activities and messaging. This position occasionally requires work outside of normal business hours and at locations that might be off-site. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To provide vision and leadership in developing and implementing Franklin VNA & Hospice fundraising and engagement strategy
  • Research gift opportunities; prepares gift proposals and supplementary resources; drafts prospect briefings; proposes, implements, and supports communication and engagement strategies; and documents gifts.
  • Assists in the creation, design, delivery, and maintenance of informational resources targeted to specific donor audiences, in both print and digital formats, to provide reliable tools for fundraisers to interest donors in the agency’s priorities.
  • To lead the Fundraising Team to raise in excess of the yearly budget.
  • To be externally focused on new business opportunities, initiatives and personally develop and steward key donor relationships.
  • To be responsible for increasing income to meet or exceed the targets within the three-year strategic plan.
  • To review and monitor all Franklin VNA & Hospice fundraising streams ensuring they continue to deliver agreed levels of return on investment for the agency.
  • Drafts and refines personalized correspondence for staff, management, and Board of Directors of the agency, to facilitate effective communication and advance relationships with donors.
  • To inspire and motivate all Franklin VNA & Hospice fundraisers.
  • To develop and sustain a culture of achievement and accountability.
  • To manage performance within the fundraising department, manage risk, and identify contingency plans.
  • To contribute as a member of the senior management team to the overall direction of Franklin VNA & Hospice and to all its activities
  • Perform other duties assigned.


Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree is required. 
  • Three to five years dedicated fundraising experience in a variety of roles that represent progressively increased responsibility. 
  • Proven solicitation experience for gifts of $300,000 or more evidenced through professional references and reputation

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated writing experience and excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Effective interpersonal relations, communication and presentation skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to model a highly professional presentation in all circumstances and, especially, to donors and the public.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of multiple teams including volunteer committees; demonstrated volunteer management at the highest levels of an organization.
  • Ability to successfully manage a high-volume workload and competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and able to function independently with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with appropriate discretion.
  • Demonstrates a collaborative approach.
  • Must demonstrate the following personal attributes associated with leadership qualities, including, but not limited to, being compassionate, assertive, enthusiastic, honest, ethical and show humility.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines as instructed by the agency.
  • Ability to wear protective clothing such as mask, glove, head cover, lead apron, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.
  • Ability to travel required. Travel throughout central New Hampshire is required.
  • Current drivers’ license is required.
  • Proof of automobile insurance is required. 
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle background screening is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Job requires some physical activities including but not limited to; sitting for extended periods of time, typing, reaching, standing, walking, kneeling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking and hearing. 
  • Job requires use of general office equipment including phones, copiers and computer equipment.
  • Job requires light physical work including the ability to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, 10 lbs. regularly.
  • Job requires visual acuity including the ability to see at or within arm’s reach as well as to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Job is subject to inside environmental conditions, low noise level.
