Overview
We are seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) to provide enterprise-level support for database management, optimization, and security within the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Critical Cloud and Infrastructure Support (CCIS) program. The DBA will be responsible for the design, implementation, and sustainment of Oracle, SQL Server, and other enterprise databases supporting mission-critical applications across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in database administration, cloud integration, and DoD cybersecurity compliance. This position requires proficiency in performance tuning, backup and recovery, and secure database configuration within highly regulated federal information systems.

Responsibilities
Administer, configure, and maintain Oracle and SQL Server databases supporting DLA mission systems.
Perform database installation, patching, upgrades, and configuration in compliance with DoD and DISA STIG requirements.
Monitor and tune database performance to ensure optimal efficiency and high availability.
Develop, test, and implement database backup and recovery strategies to support continuity of operations.
Support database migration, replication, and synchronization across hybrid and multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, OCI, GCP).
Implement database security controls, access management, and auditing mechanisms in accordance with DoD RMF policies.
Collaborate with application developers, systems engineers, and cybersecurity personnel to integrate database services securely.
Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, data flows, and operational procedures.
Troubleshoot complex database and application integration issues, providing tier III support as needed.
Support database automation and monitoring through tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM 13c), Ansible, or custom scripts.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Clearance: Must possess an active Secret clearance and be eligible for IT-I (Tier 5/SSBI) / Critical Sensitive access. U.S. Citizenship required.
Certifications:
DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., Security+, CASP+, or CISSP).
One of the following Google Cloud Platform certifications: Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect.
A current DBA certification under the Server Admin or DBA Admin function from the DLA-approved Cybersecurity (CS) Computing Environment (CE) list.
Additional certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or AWS Database Specialty are preferred.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
Five (5) or more years of progressive experience using database query languages such as Oracle PL/SQL and Microsoft SQL.
Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience managing enterprise database systems using Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server, with at least three (3) years in database administration supporting Federal or DoD IT environments.
Three (3) or more years of hands-on experience in Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) administration.
Proficiency in Oracle 19c or later, including configuration, security, and performance optimization in enterprise environments.
Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or Unix systems supporting Oracle deployments.
Familiarity with RMF, DISA STIG, and DoD cybersecurity compliance requirements for database environments.
Experience in database clustering, replication, and high availability configurations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex performance and data integrity issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and technical collaboration.
Desired Experience and Skillset:
Five (5) years of hands-on experience supporting DoD IT hosting or enterprise database solutions.
Expertise with Oracle 19c+ installation, tuning, and management in cloud and on-premise environments.
Proficiency with Linux/Unix (RHEL 8+) for Oracle deployments, including shell scripting and filesystem administration.
Experience using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM 13c) and diagnostic tuning tools for proactive system management.
Strong understanding of database security hardening and compliance with DISA STIGs and RMF controls.
Familiarity with database performance monitoring and automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or custom scripts.
Experience supporting cloud-hosted database services across AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI environments.
Knowledge of high-availability architectures, failover clustering, and disaster recovery best practices.
Ability to mentor junior DBAs and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams in a mission-focused environment.
