Summary:
The Radiation Therapy Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality radiation oncology services by coordinating patient care, treatment scheduling, and communication between the radiation oncology team, patients, and other healthcare providers. This position ensures smooth clinical operations by managing treatment workflows, maintaining accurate patient and treatment records, and facilitating compliance with departmental and regulatory standards. The coordinator serves as a key point of contact for patients throughout their radiation therapy journey, providing information, addressing concerns, and promoting a positive care experience.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with our Radiation Oncologist and team to promote effective clinical care for all patients.
Responsibility for contributing to the development and quality improvement of the Radiation Oncology Program. Provides input to manager on decision making and problem-solving activities. Provides work direction and scheduling for therapist. Participates in chart rounds and quality improvement teams to achieve targeted results.
Maintains effective patient scheduling to promote maximum and efficient patient throughput.
Effectively maintains clinical supply levels by monitoring levels and ordering supplies and equipment performance as necessary.
Develops, reviews, and implements departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Prepares department areas for all regulatory and accreditation surveys/inspections and maintains an environment of continual readiness by consistently auditing for compliance. Partners with leadership to ensure therapist have completed annual requirements, skills day, and notebook comps.
Respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Effectively communicate information and respond to questions from patients, physicians, family members, and other staff members.
Other duties as assigned.
Education:
HS DIPLOMA/GED
Minimum Requirements:
5+ years related experience
