Position Summary
Ray’s Pharmacy is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician (Tech-in-Training) to join our community-focused pharmacy team on Orcas Island.
The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacist in delivering safe, efficient, and compliant pharmacy services in accordance with Washington State law and Federal regulations. This position assists in prescription processing, customer service, inventory management, and administrative functions while maintaining strict adherence to patient confidentiality and pharmacy best practices.
This position may be filled as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician-in-Training, depending on licensure status at time of hire.
Employment Details
Status: Full-Time/Part-Time (40 hours per week)
Starting Wage: $25.00 per hour ($20 hour for Pham A license until tech training complete)
Reports To: Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) or any Pharmacist on Duty
Location: Ray’s Pharmacy, Eastsound, WA
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service
Prescription intake and data entry
Prescription preparation support (as permitted by law)
Tablet, capsule or solution counting, labeling, and packaging
Vaccine workflow support
Insurance claim processing, including commercial and private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid
Inventory management and drug ordering
Point-of-sale checkout
HIPAA, Fraud Waste & Abuse compliance (Adhere to Federal and State regulations).
Training & Licensing Requirements
Washington State Pharmacy Technician License
Obtain and maintain WA State Pharmacy Technician License (test for Pharmacy Technician license within six months of completing course and time requirements)
Ongoing education in:
o Pharmacy law and compliance
o Insurance billing and claims processing
o Inventory management systems
o Clinical support services (vaccines, travel health, etc.)
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work full-time or part-time
Aptitude to learn pharmacy systems and regulations
Preferred Qualifications
Retail, healthcare, or pharmacy experience
Interest in long-term pharmacy career
Proficiency using computer software
Has basic math skills
Works well as a team
Good organizational skills
Multi-tasks well
Comfortable working in fast paced environment
