Description
Essex Industries is a multi-site aerospace and defense manufacturer serving military and commercial customers worldwide. The Manufacturing Engineer designs and improves manufacturing processes, tooling, and test equipment to support efficient production. This role optimizes layouts, workflows, and assembly methods while ensuring parts, tools, and processes meet product specifications and manufacturing goals.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Essential duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Store customer TDP data in a PDM environment
- Interpret customer technical data to plan manufacturing processes
- Enter and maintain process data in site ERP system
- Use Solidworks to prepare technical drawings and models
- Use Solidworks to design and draft fixture and tooling for assembly and manufacturing
- Review and approve manufacturing drawings, models, and processes
- Review and approve manufacturing work orders
- Project leader on NPD product for small or medium sized projects
- Work with outside vendors to clarify requirements or resolve manufacturing issues
- Applies basic statistical methods to variety of situations
- Identifies, recommends and initiates continuous improvement projects in regards to processing, tooling, and product flow
Required Education/Experience/Certifications:
- Knowledge equal to a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or related field and up to three years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within manufacturing.
- Experience with milling, turning, and simple mechanical assemblies (riveting, installation of bearing and bushings, fasteners...)
- CNC programming experience is a plus
- History of process design and planning for manufacturability and ease of next assembly
- Capable of collaborating and working with machinists and assemblers to develop and troubleshoot manufacturing processes
- General understanding of materials (aluminum and steel preferred) and common treatments and finishes
