Your Mission in Action
The Cook prepares and cooks a wide variety of dishes, ensuring that they meet the quality standards of the establishment. This position requires proficiency in cooking techniques, understanding of food safety regulations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by chopping, slicing, and measuring items needed for dishes
- Cook food according to established recipes and procedures; ensure the proper use of kitchen equipment (stoves, ovens, etc.)
- Monitor the quality of food to ensure that it meets standards for taste, texture, and appearance; adjust seasoning and cooking methods as necessary
- Adhere to all food safety regulations, including safe food storage, labeling, temperature control, sanitation, and cleanliness
- Prepare meals within specified time frames, ensuring that meals are of good, consistent quality and ready to be served
- Assist in managing kitchen inventory, checking stock levels, and notifying Kitchen Manager of supply shortages or needs
- Ensure that cooking stations and equipment are cleaned and sanitized regularly including washing pots and pans as necessary: complete duties as assigned by Kitchen Manager
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation, cooking, and serving of food items as designated on menus
- Ensure all food portions are correct and in accordance with kitchen guidelines
- Follow and address any dietary needs, allergies, and preferences as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- One (1) year of prior experience as a cook or in a similar kitchen role
- Current Food Handler's certification (such as ServSafe)
- Must be 21 years of age or older per licensing requirements
- In-depth knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment (e.g., ovens, grills, fryers, etc.)
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of prior experience in food service or kitchen experience
